What goes to the Ferrari dealer, and why.
Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale says its warranty and extended programs require service to Ferrari's schedule with genuine parts, documented in the service record. If your car is in one of them, some work belongs at the dealer whatever we charge.
A Ferrari outside those programs, or a job the program does not cover, is work for an independent shop like ours. When a job belongs at the dealer, we say so on the first call, so you do not pay us to find out.
Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale is at 5750 N Federal Hwy, Fort Lauderdale. Ferrari of Palm Beach is at 3974 Okeechobee Blvd, West Palm Beach.
- Keys. Ferrari makes the key for your car by VIN, using its code card, and the dealer asks for your driver's license and the title. See Ferrari keys.
- Recall repairs, which a Ferrari dealer does free. See the recalls below.
- Factory warranty repairs. Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale describes a three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty on new cars, an extended warranty to year 8, and Genuine Maintenance, which covers scheduled service for seven years.
- Claims under Ferrari's extended Power program. The Fort Lauderdale dealer says these require service to Ferrari's schedule with genuine parts, documented in the service record.
- High-voltage battery work on the SF90, 296 and 849 Testarossa covered by Ferrari's hybrid programs. Those extension programs include battery replacement at year 8 and year 16, activated after a technical inspection at a Ferrari dealer.
- Structural carbon and aluminum body repair. Ferrari of Palm Beach runs a body shop that says it is certified for carbon and aluminum repair.
Federal law says a warrantor may not make a warranty depend on a branded part or service unless it provides that part or service free under the warranty. The FTC says a company cannot void a warranty or deny coverage solely because you used an independent shop, though it can refuse coverage for damage the outside part or work caused. Genuine Maintenance covers scheduled service for seven years with parts and labor included, and Ferrari's programs set their own record rules, so while your car is in one, use the maintenance it includes.
Fair prices and quotes
An honest price on Ferrari work, from people who treat you like a friend.
A Ferrari wants a service every year whatever the mileage, and its parts are priced like the car. The work BMR Auto does on it is billed fairly. When KJ, who owns BMR Auto, prices a Ferrari job, the number is the one he would quote to a friend or a family member, and the car is handled with the respect that goes with it. BMR Auto has grown because clients feel that honor in how they are treated, and it is the main reason exotic car owners across South Florida trust us.
No Ferrari owner has reviewed us on Google so far. Brian B., whose review does not name his car, put our pricing this way:
“I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them. Very knowledgeable and great pricing.”

Common Ferrari jobs to ask us about
| Job | What the quote depends on |
|---|---|
| Annual service | Model and service due |
| Diagnostic scan and report | Model and the fault |
| F1 clutch replacement with relearn (F430) | Gearbox and clutch wear |
| F1 pump or accumulator | Gearbox and parts needed |
| Dual-clutch fluid service | Model |
| Front lift pump rebuild (458) | Pump condition |
| Pre-purchase inspection | Model and what you want checked |
Prices depend on the car and the work. Call or send the VIN, and we will quote your Ferrari before anything is done. Florida law also requires a repair shop to offer you a written estimate before work begins on all but the smallest jobs, unless you waive it in writing; see your rights under Florida law.
Engine families
Four engine families cover most Ferraris sold since 2005.
The engine and gearbox under your Ferrari decide most of the work it needs. These are the families, with the cars in each.

F136 V8, naturally aspirated
F430 and 430 Scuderia (2004 to 2009), California (2009 to 2014), 458 Italia, Spider and Speciale (2009 to 2015)
The F430 has a six-speed gated manual or the single-clutch F1 gearbox, run by a pump, accumulator and actuator. The 458 has a Getrag seven-speed dual-clutch with two wet clutches. The F430 uses a timing chain, so there is no belt interval. F430, California and 458 work
F154 twin-turbo V8
California T, 488 GTB, Spider and Pista, F8 Tributo and Spider, Portofino and Portofino M, Roma and Roma Spider, Amalfi, GTC4Lusso T
The turbo V8 cars from 2014 on. The newest of them are still inside Ferrari's three-year warranty or its extension to year 8, so check what your car is enrolled in before you book. Jobs by service
F140 V12
599 GTB Fiorano, F12berlinetta, FF, GTC4Lusso, 812 Superfast and GTS, Purosangue, 12Cilindri
From the 6.0-liter 599 to the 6.5-liter 812, Purosangue and 12Cilindri. Several of these cars appear in the airbag recalls below, so check the VIN. Recalls
Plug-in hybrids (F154 V8 and F163 V6)
SF90 Stradale and Spider (2019 on), 296 GTB and GTS (F163 V6), 849 Testarossa (2026 on)
The SF90 and 849 Testarossa pair the F154 V8 with electric motors. The 296 has a 3.0-liter V6, a 7.45 kWh battery and an eight-speed dual-clutch. Hybrid work and limits
F430, California and 458
The naturally aspirated V8 cars.
Every one of these cars is past Ferrari's three-year warranty and the extension to year 8, though a car in the Power program still follows Ferrari's record rules. These are the jobs that come up most, as an Ontario specialist reports them in its blog posts.
F1 clutch and hydraulics (F430)
The F430 F1 clutch lasts roughly 15,000 to 30,000 km. A failing pump, accumulator or actuator gives slow or clunky shifts and a pump that runs constantly, and it can leave the car undriveable. A new clutch needs a relearn.
Dual-clutch wear (458)
The 458 wet clutches last about 40,000 to 60,000 km, and wear is read as a percentage at service. Skipped gearbox fluid service is the main cause of early wear. Replacing the clutches means taking the engine and gearbox out.
Exhaust headers and manifolds
F430 headers crack from heat cycling, with ticking on a cold start and catalyst or secondary air codes. Early 458 coupes and Spiders crack at the manifold collector welds, with ticking or hissing when cold and an oxygen sensor code.
Cooling (458)
Hoses leak at the thermostat housing, the lower radiator junction and the throttle body coolant lines. The Ontario specialist recommends replacing them as prevention at 60,000 km or 8 years. A water pump bearing whines before it fails.
Front lift (458)
The front axle lift pump seals dry out on cars that sit, and the nose stops holding its height. The fix is a rebuild or a new pump, then a bleed.
Battery drain and modules (458)
The 458 body computer can drain the battery in about three weeks. About three months of storage can corrupt module memory, which then needs a reset and recoding. Keep the car on a battery tender while it is parked.
Also on these cars
- F430 bushings, ball joints and drop links wear.
- Soft-touch interior coating turns tacky; a 458 typically has 8 to 15 affected pieces.
- 458 door handle motors fail.
- 458 faults at the manettino, seat sensors and the Spider roof module.
- The F1 clutch wear meter is described as notoriously inaccurate, so read it with care before you buy.
Brakes, tires and the rest: see jobs by service.
SF90, 296 and 849 Testarossa
Ferrari plug-in hybrids: what goes to the dealer.
These cars carry a high-voltage battery under Ferrari's own hybrid programs, and Ferrari activates battery replacement under those programs after a technical inspection at a Ferrari dealer. That work goes to a Ferrari dealer. We do fault scans, high-voltage system checks, 12-volt battery work and routine mechanical work on these cars; call us first with the model year and the warning.
High-voltage battery
Hybrids carry 60 months of high-voltage coverage, which Ferrari's extension programs carry further with scheduled battery replacement. Battery work under that coverage goes to the dealer.
Storage
Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale says a hybrid stored for more than two weeks must be kept on the Ferrari battery conditioner to keep the Hybrid Component Warranty valid.
SF90 seat recall
Recall 23V136000 replaces the passenger seat on 2021 to 2023 SF90 coupes and 2022 SF90 Spiders, because the airbag can strike a child seat.
See hybrid and EV batteries for what an independent shop can and cannot do on a high-voltage car.
Jobs by service
Every Ferrari job, by service.
Each block says what is particular to Ferrari and links to the full service page. Send us the VIN and the job, and we tell you what we can do and quote it.
Diagnostics
Ferrari's technical information site offers two diagnostic tools: DEIS, bought from an authorized Ferrari dealer and used with an active professional subscription, and DEIS-Light, sold alone with an annual subscription, which is limited to level-one diagnosis on the 599 GTB Fiorano and later but can reprogram control units through a J2534 interface. The current dealer system is Leonardo. We scan the car and test the fault before we recommend a part.
Programming and coding
Long storage can leave 458 modules needing a reset and recoding. After a seat swap, 458 and 488 owners have had to ask the dealer for a "proxy" update so the modules stop faulting.
Keys
Ferrari keys come from Ferrari by VIN, with the code card, the title and your license. One dealer quotes 3 to 4 business days once the paperwork is in, and one owner reported a wait of more than three months. With every key lost, the dealer may have to replace parts. We can diagnose a key or immobilizer fault first, and check afterward that every remaining key still starts the car.
Scheduled maintenance
Ferrari specifies a service every year whatever the mileage, with major services at 20,000 and 60,000 km. The 458 needs 91 octane fuel at least, and 94 is preferred. Send the VIN and the service due for a quote.
Engine and transmission
F1 and dual-clutch clutch wear, F1 pumps and accumulators, cracked headers and manifolds, and coolant hose leaks; see F430, California and 458.
Brakes and suspension
The 458 front lift stops holding when its pump seals dry out. F430 bushings, ball joints and drop links wear. Carbon ceramic brakes are very costly to replace, so they are worth inspecting before they wear out.
Wheels and tires
A Ferrari that sits for months can flat-spot its tires, so check them before the first long drive after storage.
Hybrid batteries
We scan the SF90, 296 and 849 Testarossa and check their high-voltage systems, and battery work under Ferrari's hybrid programs goes to a Ferrari dealer. Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale says a hybrid stored for more than two weeks must use the Ferrari battery conditioner to keep the Hybrid Component Warranty valid. More on the hybrids
Collision and body
Structural carbon and aluminum repair belongs at a Ferrari network body shop. Sticky soft-touch interior coating is a common Ferrari complaint and gets worse in heat.
Pre-purchase inspection
On a Ferrari the clutch wear reading has to be read and interpreted, because the F1 meter is described as notoriously inaccurate. Other checks include 458 manifolds and fluid residue, 488 turbo and intercooler seals, and the California roof.
Parts
Ferrari's warranty programs require genuine parts, documented in the service record. On a car outside those programs, tell us the part and the VIN and we quote the job.
Recalls
Recall repairs are free at a Ferrari dealer.
If your car has an open recall, a Ferrari dealer repairs it at no charge. Send us your VIN and we check it for open recalls, or look it up yourself on NHTSA's recall site. These are Ferrari recalls worth checking by VIN.

Storage and seasonal owners
If your Ferrari sits while you are away.
If you spend part of the year away, your Ferrari may sit for months. A parked Ferrari drains its battery, and on the 458 that can take about three weeks. Long storage can also corrupt module memory, flat-spot the tires and dry out the front lift pump seals.
Battery
Keep the car on a battery tender while it is parked. A 458 body computer can drain the battery in about three weeks.
Modules
About three months of storage can corrupt module memory on a 458, which then needs a reset and recoding.
Tires and front lift
Tires can flat-spot, and the 458 front lift pump seals can dry out, when a car sits for months.

What owners say about BMR Auto
No Google review names a Ferrari yet. One of these reviews names BMWs and the others name no car. They describe how BMR Auto treats its customers.
“KJ and his team are experts at what they do. Working on Exotics and European cars. They are my go to for diagnostic, maintenance and repair on all [BMWs]. Thank you !”
Gabriel S. · European and exotic cars · Google
“2 things most people have a fear of. Going to Dr and looking for someone to help with your car. I still fear the Dr! KJ and his crew took great care of us and our vehicle recently. From the moment they took possession of our car there were constant updates. Pictures of the work and reassurance that we were being taken care of. When we went and picked up the car we were not disappointed! Great work! Thanks KJ. My wife and I highly recommend this business!”

Questions from Ferrari owners
How do you price Ferrari work?
We quote it before we touch it. After the scan and the test you get the cost of the job, and any extra work found along the way waits for your approval. Prices depend on the model and the job, so call or send the VIN. See fair prices and quotes.
Will servicing my Ferrari at BMR Auto affect my warranty or Power program?
In general, a maker cannot void a warranty or deny coverage solely because the car was serviced at an independent shop, though it can refuse coverage for damage the outside part or work caused. Ferrari's extended programs add their own rules: the Fort Lauderdale dealer says claims require service to Ferrari's schedule with genuine parts, documented in the record. While your car is in Genuine Maintenance or Power, use the dealer for that work.
What is my clutch percentage, and is the dash reading right?
On the 458 the dual-clutch wear is read as a percentage at service. On the F430 the F1 clutch wear meter is described as notoriously inaccurate, so the reading has to be interpreted by someone who knows the car, and it should never be the only check before you buy.
Why is my Ferrari dead after three weeks in the garage?
The 458 body computer can drain the battery in about three weeks, and about three months of storage can corrupt module memory. Keep the car on a battery tender while it is parked. See storage and seasonal owners.
Why are my Ferrari buttons and trim sticky?
The soft-touch coating on Ferrari interiors turns tacky over time, and heat makes it worse. A 458 typically has 8 to 15 affected pieces.
Can you make a Ferrari key?
No. Ferrari keys are made by Ferrari for your VIN and come through a dealer, who asks for the code card, your license and the title. After a dealer programmed a new key, one F430 owner found his old key unlocked the car but no longer started it, so test every key afterward. We can diagnose a key fault before you go to the dealer.
What does a 458 pre-purchase inspection include?
The checks that matter on a 458 are the clutch wear reading, the exhaust manifolds, fluid residue, the front lift and the coolant hoses. Book the inspection before you pay a deposit. See pre-purchase inspections.
Do you work on the SF90 and 296?
Yes, for fault scans, high-voltage system checks, 12-volt battery work and routine mechanical work. Battery work under Ferrari's hybrid programs goes to a Ferrari dealer, because Ferrari activates battery replacement only after a technical inspection at a dealer. Call us first with the model year and what the car is doing. See hybrid and EV batteries.
Is my Ferrari on a recall?
Send us your VIN and we check it, or look it up on NHTSA's recall site. Recall repairs are free at a Ferrari dealer. The recalls table lists ones worth checking.
Is BMR Auto a Ferrari dealer?
No. BMR Auto is an independent repair shop and is not affiliated with or authorized by Ferrari or any vehicle manufacturer.
Send us the VIN and tell us what the car is doing.
