McLaren repair and service in South Florida.
BMR Auto looks after McLarens in its Dania Beach shop, with fair prices and a quote before the work starts. On McLarens up to the 720S generation, when every key is lost, we repair and reprogram the car's own body control module and program new keys to it, for about half the dealer price. Recall repairs, extended warranty claims, carbon tub repair and Artura high-voltage battery work go to a McLaren retailer, and we tell you which is which before you book.

McLaren keys
McLaren all keys lost. We service them.
On a McLaren from the 12C to the 720S and GT, losing the only key leaves the dealer one route: a new body control module. That takes weeks, and the McLaren dealer charges more than $13,000 for it. BMR Auto repairs and reprograms the module your car already has and programs one, two or three new keys to it, in our Dania Beach shop, for about half the dealer price.
Nothing is shipped out or mailed away. The car comes to us on a tow, its own module is repaired and reprogrammed in our shop, and we program the new keys with McLaren's diagnostic system.
The dealer or BMR Auto
| McLaren dealer | BMR Auto | |
|---|---|---|
| The module | Replaced with a new body control module | Your own module, repaired and reprogrammed |
| Price | More than $13,000 | About half the dealer price |
| Time | Weeks | Your own module, so nothing to order |
| Where | The dealer | Our shop in Dania Beach, nothing shipped out |
| New keys | Programmed to the new module | One, two or three, programmed to your own module |

What goes to the McLaren retailer, and why.
McLaren controls warranty repairs closely. If your car is under the extended warranty, some work belongs at the retailer whatever we charge.
When a job belongs at the retailer, we say so on the first call, so you do not pay us to find out.
McLaren Palm Beach is at 915 S Dixie Hwy, West Palm Beach. There is also a McLaren Miami retailer.
- Recall repairs, which a McLaren retailer does free, and the paperwork that closes out a recall campaign. See the recalls below.
- Extended warranty claims. In 2016 McLaren made its extended warranty renewable to the car's 12th birthday for cars under 100,000 miles, with claims repaired using McLaren genuine parts fitted by McLaren-trained technicians. Check the current terms with your retailer.
- High-voltage battery work on the Artura.
- Carbon tub repair. McLaren cars are built around a carbon fiber tub, and in the UK McLaren appoints body shops through its retailers. Ask your retailer which shop it uses.
- Configuration changes. Mainstream scan tablets such as Autel cannot change McLaren configuration.
Federal law says a warrantor may not make a warranty depend on a branded part or service unless it provides that part or service free under the warranty. The FTC says a company cannot void a warranty or deny coverage solely because you used an independent shop, though it can refuse coverage for damage the outside part or work caused. If your car is under the extended warranty, check what its current terms say about routine service before you move it.
Always call us to find out if we service it, or if you should take it to the dealer. We truly enjoy answering your questions whatever the answer is.
Fair prices and quotes
What McLaren owners can expect from us on price.
McLaren builds its road cars around a carbon tub and a hydraulic chassis, and the parts that keep them on the road carry McLaren prices. BMR Auto charges fairly for the labor around those parts. KJ, who owns BMR Auto, has built the business on treating each client as a friend or a family member and each car with the respect its owner gives it. Honest prices are part of that honor, and they are why owners of exotic cars from Miami to Palm Beach have trusted BMR Auto as it has grown.
Until a McLaren owner reviews us on Google, here is what a customer who brought us a headlight fault wrote about the bill:
“There were no hidden fees, and the service was both professional and welcoming.”

Models and engines
Three engine families cover the McLaren road cars on this page.
The engine, gearbox and suspension generation under your McLaren decide most of the work it needs.
3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 (M838T)
12C (2011 to 2014), 650S (2014 to 2017), 675LT (2015 to 2017), 570S (2015 to 2021), 570GT (2017 to 2021), 540C (2015 to 2020), 600LT (2018 to 2021)
A flat-plane twin-turbo V8. The 12C and 650S use the hydraulic ProActive Chassis Control (PCC) suspension, and on the 570S the accumulator feeds the nose lifter. 12C, 650S, 570S and 600LT work
4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (M840T)
720S (2017 to 2023), 765LT (2020 to 2023), 750S (2023 on); GT (2019 to 2023) and GTS (2024 on)
The 720S has a seven-speed Graziano dual-clutch and Proactive Chassis Control II. The 750S is about 30 kg lighter, with about 30 percent of its parts changed. 720S, 765LT, 750S and GT work
3.0-liter hybrid V6 (M630)
Artura (2022 on)
A twin-turbo V6 with an electric motor and a 7.4 kWh battery, and an eight-speed dual-clutch with no reverse gear: the car reverses on electric power. Artura work and limits
12C, 650S, 570S, 570GT, 540C, 600LT and 675LT
The 3.8-liter cars.
Most of these cars are past their factory warranty. These are the jobs that come up most, as an Ontario specialist reports them in its blog posts.
PCC accumulators (12C, 650S)
The nitrogen pre-charge in the accumulators fades, usually between five and eight years, and McLaren recommends replacing them at around seven. The signs are a pump that cycles constantly, a nose lift that takes more than 15 seconds, hesitant engagement when cold and chassis warnings on rough roads.
Nose lifter and bushings (570S)
The 570S accumulator feeds the nose lifter, which should rise in 12 to 15 seconds, and its replacement window is seven to ten years from launch. Rear toe-link bushings wear at 40,000 to 50,000 km on hard-used cars.
Coolant quick-connects
Early quick-connect hose fittings harden and crack. You see a slow coolant loss, a sweet smell or a wet patch. The Ontario specialist pressure tests the 12C system at 1.4 bar for 15 minutes to find them.
Gearbox oil cooler lines
The cooler lines and fittings weep, leaving an oily film under the rear bumper and a low-fluid warning. Only McLaren-spec dual-clutch fluid should go in, because the wrong fluid causes clutch judder and damages the clutch packs.
Door struts and handles
Door gas struts lose pressure after five to seven years and are replaced as a pair. Door handle motors stop extending or retracting, and the other side often follows within about a year.
Battery and modules
A 12C left parked flattens its lead-acid battery in 10 to 14 days, and a 570S within two weeks. After a full drain some 12C modules need recoding.
Also on these cars
- Stored 12C cars develop seized brake calipers.
- Front hub bearings wear on the 12C and 650S.
- Carbon ceramic pads last about 25,000 km of road use on a 570S, and the wrong compound damages the discs.
- The 12C IRIS infotainment is Audi-derived, and 2011 and 2012 cars qualify for the IRIS 2 update.
- 570S cars are reported with valve cover and transmission line oil leaks, and with climate system failures.
Brakes, tires, air conditioning and the rest: see jobs by service.
720S, 765LT, 750S, GT and GTS
The 4.0-liter cars.
The 720S runs a more aggressive battery management system, so a weak battery sets off a cascade of warnings. Start there before chasing faults.
PCC II accumulators
2017 to 2019 720S cars are now in the replacement window for their Proactive Chassis Control II accumulators.
Folding instrument display
On 2017 to 2019 cars the folding cluster strips its gears or loses its position sensor.
Climate blower
The blower motor controller fails on and off, with no airflow. It logs its fault in the IRIS and body modules, not the engine computer, so a basic code reader misses it.
Doors
The 720S door struts carry higher gas pressure for the heavier doors. A door that drops on worn struts can damage its panel.
Coolant connectors
Some 2017 to 2018 720S cars were built with older-generation coolant connectors during a parts change, the same fittings that crack on the 12C.
Gearbox and brakes
Dual-clutch hesitation on the 720S is fixed with software. After two to three weeks parked, the carbon ceramic brakes can show pedal rebound, and the Ontario specialist advises pumping the pedal 20 to 30 times.
These cars at a glance
- 720S: 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, 720 PS, seven-speed Graziano dual-clutch
- 750S: 750 PS, about 30 kg lighter, new 8-inch infotainment with CarPlay
- 788HS, unveiled July 9, 2026, limited to 200 cars, the final evolution
- GT 2019 to 2023, GTS from 2024
720S cars had recalls for a brake banjo bolt (21V561000, 2019 and 2020 cars) and a fuel tank pad (20V231000). See recalls.
Artura
The Artura hybrid: what goes to the retailer.
Call us first with an Artura, with the model year and the warning on the dash. High-voltage battery work on the Artura goes to a McLaren retailer.
No reverse gear
The Artura reverses on its electric motor. A deeply discharged high-voltage battery can leave it unable to reverse.
Battery health
Reading the battery state of health needs a McLaren-specific interface, and a tool reseller says MDS, the McLaren dealer-level scanner it sells, does not support newer models such as the Artura.
Early software
Early cars had hybrid warnings caused by software.
Recalls
Artura recalls cover high-pressure fuel pipe nuts that loosen (22V908000), a low-pressure fuel pipe that detaches (23V796000) and misrouted rear brake lines (25V216000). A McLaren retailer closes them out.
See hybrid and EV batteries for what an independent shop can and cannot do on a high-voltage car.
Oil service
McLaren oil service: the 12C runs once a year or every 10,000 km.
An Ontario McLaren specialist reports the 12C's first service as due once a year or at 10,000 km, which is about 6,200 miles. The 12C services are numbered 1 to 15.
- Fuel and charcoal filters are due at the 6th, 10th and 12th services.
- The 6th service fuel filter and canister is the item most often skipped on used 570S cars.
- Gearbox fluid has to be the McLaren-spec dual-clutch fluid.
- If the car will sit afterward, keep it on a battery tender through the factory charging plug.
Book a McLaren oil service
Tell us the model, the mileage and the last service number in the record, and we will quote the service that is due.
Our older McLaren oil change page gave the interval as every 10,000 miles. The yearly or 10,000 km interval above is the one the specialist reports.
Jobs by service
Every McLaren job, by service.
Each block says what is particular to McLaren and links to the full service page. Send us the VIN and the job, and we tell you what we can do and quote it.
Diagnostics
A tool reseller describes MDS as McLaren's dealer-level scanner and says it does not support newer models such as the Artura. Mainstream tablets such as Autel cannot change configuration, and some faults, such as the 720S blower controller, log only in the IRIS and body modules. We scan the car and test the fault before we recommend a part.
Programming and coding
Some 12C modules need recoding after a full battery drain, and 2011 and 2012 12C cars qualify for the IRIS 2 update.
Keys
With every key lost on a McLaren from the 12C to the 720S generation, we repair and reprogram the car's own body control module in our shop and program one, two or three new keys to it, for about half what the dealer charges for a new module. See McLaren all keys lost.
Scheduled maintenance
On the 12C, once a year or every 10,000 km, with fuel and charcoal filters at the 6th, 10th and 12th services. See oil service and scheduled maintenance.
Engine and transmission
Coolant quick-connects, gearbox oil cooler lines, McLaren-spec dual-clutch fluid, 570S valve cover leaks and 720S gearbox software.
Starter and no-start
A McLaren that will not crank after sitting may simply have a flat battery; a 12C can go flat in 10 to 14 days. Test the battery before anyone condemns the starter.
Brakes, ABS and suspension
Hydraulic PCC accumulators, 570S toe-link bushings, carbon ceramic pads, seized calipers on stored cars and recalls for brake lines and a banjo bolt.
Wheels and tires
Front hub bearings wear on the 12C and 650S.
Air conditioning
The 720S blower motor controller fails on and off, and 570S cars are reported with climate system failures. The 720S fault logs in the IRIS and body modules, so a basic code reader misses it.
Hybrid batteries
Artura battery health needs a McLaren-specific interface. High-voltage battery work on the Artura goes to a McLaren retailer. More on the Artura
Collision and body
Damage to the carbon tub goes to a body shop the McLaren retailer appoints. Door struts, handle motors and dropped-door panel damage are common body jobs.
Pre-purchase inspection
An Ontario specialist says a 650S inspection done properly takes about four hours: a cold start to watch the hydraulics prime, a scan of every module, an accumulator pressure test, the gearbox input shaft seal, and airbrake actuator weeps on 2014 and 2015 cars.
Parts
McLaren-spec gearbox fluid matters, and extended warranty claims need McLaren genuine parts.
If you came from our older McLaren pages
Our older site had a page for each McLaren service. Each one now lives here or on its service page:
- McLaren repair and maintenance: this page
- Oil change: oil service
- Engine repair, transmission repair and starter repair: engine and transmission
- Brake repair and ABS repair: brakes and suspension
- Air conditioning: air conditioning
- Headlights: headlights
- Collision: collision and body
Those pages listed air suspension repair, timing belt replacement and component protection. McLaren does not use air suspension, no source shows a timing belt on these engines, and component protection is a Volkswagen Group system that does not apply to McLaren, so those items are gone. Key programming stays, and it now covers McLaren all keys lost.
Recalls
Recall repairs are free at a McLaren retailer.
If your car has an open recall, a McLaren retailer repairs it at no charge. Send us your VIN and we check it for open recalls, or look it up yourself on NHTSA's recall site. These are McLaren recalls worth checking by VIN.
| Recall | Cars | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| 25V216000 | 2020 to 2025 600LT, 720S, Artura, GT and GTS | Brake lines may be connected to the wrong side, which can lock a rear wheel |
| 21V561000 | 2019 to 2020 720S, 2019 600LT, 2020 570S and GT | Brake banjo bolt may be missing its fluid holes |
| 20V231000 | 720S through 2020, 2017 to 2019 570GT, 2020 GT, 2019 Senna | Fuel tank foam pad can trap moisture, corrode the tank and cause a leak |
| 22V908000 | 2023 Artura | High-pressure fuel pipe nuts can loosen |
| 23V796000 | 2023 to 2024 Artura | Low-pressure fuel pipe can detach |
The numbers are NHTSA recall campaign numbers, and the cars are those NHTSA names for each campaign. Recalls for the 12C and 650S are not listed here, so your VIN gives the answer for your car.
Storage and seasonal owners
If your McLaren sits while you are away.
A parked 12C can flatten its battery in 10 to 14 days, and some modules then need recoding. Stored 12C cars also develop seized calipers.
Battery
Keep the car on a battery tender through the factory charging plug. A 570S can go flat within two weeks, and on a 720S a weak battery sets off a cascade of warnings.
Brakes
After two to three weeks parked, 720S carbon ceramic brakes can show pedal rebound; the Ontario specialist advises pumping the pedal 20 to 30 times. Stored 12C cars develop seized calipers.
Hydraulics
Watch the nose lift on the first start after storage. A lift that takes more than 15 seconds on a 12C or 650S points to tired PCC accumulators.
See car storage for storing a car with us.

Questions from McLaren owners
How do you price McLaren work?
You get the cost before any work starts, and anything new we find waits for your approval. The price depends on the model and the job, so call or send the VIN and we will quote your McLaren. See fair prices and quotes.
Why does my nose lift take so long?
On the 12C and 650S, a nose lift that takes more than 15 seconds and a pump that keeps cycling usually mean the PCC accumulators have lost their nitrogen pre-charge. McLaren recommends replacing them at around seven years. On a 570S the lift should rise in 12 to 15 seconds. We test the system before any part is replaced.
Why is my McLaren dead after two weeks?
A 12C can flatten its battery in 10 to 14 days and a 570S within two weeks. On the 720S a weak battery sets off a cascade of warnings. Keep the car on a tender through the factory charging plug.
Why is my coolant dropping with no puddle?
The usual cause is a cracked quick-connect hose fitting, which leaks slowly and may leave only a sweet smell. A pressure test finds it.
My doors will not stay up. What is wrong?
Door gas struts lose pressure after five to seven years and should be replaced as a pair. On a 720S a door that drops on worn struts can damage its panel, so do not wait.
How often does a McLaren need an oil service?
On the 12C the service schedule runs once a year or every 10,000 km, by the numbered services 1 to 15, with fuel and charcoal filters at the 6th, 10th and 12th services. See oil service.
Will servicing at BMR Auto affect my extended warranty?
In general, a maker cannot void a warranty or deny coverage solely because the car was serviced at an independent shop, though it can refuse coverage for damage the outside part or work caused. Under McLaren's extended warranty, claims are repaired with McLaren genuine parts by McLaren-trained technicians, so check your current terms first.
I lost every key to my McLaren. Do I need a new body control module?
On a McLaren from the 12C to the 720S generation, BMR Auto repairs and reprograms the module your car already has and programs new keys to it in our Dania Beach shop. The McLaren dealer replaces the module, which takes weeks and costs more than $13,000, and we charge about half the dealer price.
How much does it cost to replace every lost key on a McLaren?
The McLaren dealer charges more than $13,000 to replace the body control module. BMR Auto charges about half the dealer price for the job, and the exact price depends on the model and how many keys you want. Send the VIN and we quote it before the car is towed.
Which McLaren models can you make keys for?
With every key lost, the 12C, 650S, 625C, 675LT, 540C, 570S, 570GT, 600LT, 620R, 720S, 765LT and GT, with Spider versions where McLaren built them. For the P1, Senna, Elva and Speedtail, and for the Artura and the models since 2023 (750S, GTS and W1), send the VIN and we confirm the job and the price first.
Is the module sent away for the work?
No. The body control module is repaired and reprogrammed on our bench in Dania Beach and goes back into your car. Nothing is shipped out or mailed away.
Do you work on the Artura?
High-voltage battery work on the Artura goes to a McLaren retailer. Call us first about anything else on the car, with the model year and the warning on the dash.
Is BMR Auto a McLaren retailer?
No. BMR Auto is an independent repair shop and is not affiliated with or authorized by McLaren Automotive or any vehicle manufacturer.
Send us the VIN and tell us what the car is doing.
